Beyonce’s Mother, Tina Knowles, Files For Divorce From Husband Richard Lawson

Beyonce’s mother, Tina Knowles, filed for divorce from her second husband, actor Richard Lawson, on Wednesday. The two have been married for eight years.

Knowles cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split, and listed the date of separation as Tuesday, according to court documents.

Knowles split from her first husband, Mathew Knowles, in 2009 after 31 years of marriage. Originally born Celestine Ann Beyonce, she took Mathew Knowles’ last name and then took Lawson’s, now requesting to change it back to that of Beyonce’s father.

Knowles originally split from Mathew Knowles after finding out that he had been involved with a Scrubs actress for 18 months of their marriage, and fathered a child with the woman.

In the court filings on Wednesday, Knowles also asked to “terminate the court’s ability to award spousal support” to both Richard and herself.

Fans of the couple had been speculating about a divorce since noticing that Knowles had not been promoting Lawson’s latest film, Black Terror.
