Beyoncé Pays $100,000 To Extend D.C. Metro Hours For Fans Attending ‘Renaissance’ Tour

Beyoncé‘s expensive gesture for fans who attended her Renaissance tour concert in Maryland has been winning hearts.

Stormy weather on August 6 caused unprecedented delays to the Grammy Award-winning singer’s performance at Maryland’s FedEx Field. However, the singer wanted to ensure a smooth commute back home for her fans who waited to watch her perform. She ended up paying $100,000 to the D.C. Metro system to operate for an hour longer than the usual times.

D.C. Metrorail took to Twitter to announce the news to the Beyhive, a popular name for Beyoncé’s fandom. “Metro & Renaissance Tour will extend the last train by an extra hour to weather the storm. The last Silver Line train toward Ashburn tonight will now depart Morgan Boulevard at 1:04 a.m,” the tweet read.

Prior to this grand announcement, the venue had announced precautions for the ongoing storm. On their Twitter, FedEx Field announced, “Due to lightning in the area, we are currently under a shelter-in-place order. Fans outside of the gates and in the parking lots are asked to return to their cars. All fans inside of the stadium are asked to shelter in place under covered concourse areas and ramps until further notice.”

Beyoncé delivered a charged performance, winning fans’ hearts with her powerful voice as well as her concern for their safety.
