Beyoncé has joined many other celebrities in the cry to demand justice for the late George Floyd. Floyd was killed in police custody last week in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His death has sparked protests, some that have become violent, across the country.

On Friday, the singer posted a video on her Instagram account, encouraging her fans to seek further action against those involved in Floyd’s death. Her video caption reads, “If you want to demand more charges brought on all those involved in the death of George Floyd, click the link in my bio to sign the petition.”

“We’re broken and we’re disgusted. We cannot normalize this pain. I’m not only speaking to people of color. If you’re white, black, brown and anything in between, I’m sure you feel hopeless by the racism going on in America right now,” Beyoncé says in her video.

The singer continues saying, “No more senseless killings of human beings. No more seeing people of color as less than human. We can no longer look away. George is all of our family and humanity. He is our family because he is a fellow American.”

One of the links on Beyoncé’s website leads fans to a petition on Change.org that has amassed more than 9 million signatures.

“There have been too many times that we’ve seen these violent killings and no consequences. Yes, someone’s been charged, but justice is far from being achieved,” the singer said. “Continue to pray for peace and compassion and healing for our country,” she closed.

The social media response to Floyd’s death has been immense. Many celebrities and public figures like Beyoncé have joined the national outcry for justice.
