Ben Carson has been making comments as of late suggesting that he’s seriously contemplating throwing his hat into the ring for the 2016 presidential election.

Ben Carson For President?

Carson, a retired neurosurgeon and author, emerged as a major conservative voice following a speech he delivered at the National Prayer Breakfast in 2013. As the 2016 presidential election is drawing near, the socially and politically conservative Republican is sounding more and more like he’s testing the waters for a presidential bid.

"I think the chances are reasonably good of that happening. I’m waiting, you know, obviously, for a few more months,” Carson told talk show host Hugh Hewitt earlier this month. “I want to make sure that it’s clearly something my fellow Americans want me to do."

"Unless the American people indicate in November that they like big government intervention in every part of their lives, I think the likelihood is strong,” Carson added.

Carson again hinted at a presidential run on Sunday, when he spoke with Chris Wallace about what’s next for him. Though he’s retired from neurosurgery, Carson doesn’t feel like it’s yet time for him to retire completely. "If we all run for the hills, if we all run for the most comfortable place, and just allow whatever to happen, happen, then we get what we deserve," Carson told Wallace.

Carson has said that he will not announce his candidacy until 2015.
