Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are getting divorced after 10 years of marriage, the couple confirmed on Tuesday, June 30.

Ben Affleck And Jennifer Garner Confirm Divorce

Garner and Affleck have been plagued by rumors of divorce for years, and now the couple has put an end to any speculation as to the state of their marriage: it’s over. “After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time. This will be our only comment on this private family matter. Thank you for understanding,” Garner and Affleck said in a statement.

Confirmation of the split comes after reports that a moving van was spotted outside their shared Brentwood home, leading many to believe the actors were separating.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner: What Led To Their Split?

According to reports, the couple have been “living apart” for quite some time, and based on rumors that Garner is planning on working more following the split, it seems that perhaps the Hollywood couple struggled to balance their relationship with their careers. “Jen is excited to get back to work. She took a step back to focus on her marriage and family, but wants to return to making more movies,” said a source. Other reports suggested that it was Affleck’s love of gambling that drove the couple apart.

The reason for their split has not been revealed, but reports suggest that the divorce has been amicable, and that Affleck and Garner have been working with a mediator to work out all the details before officially filling for divorce. Affleck and Garner reportedly plan on sharing custody of their three children, Violet, 9, Seraphina, 6, and Samuel, 3.

Garner and Affleck’s divorce may be a private matter, but the public is certainly feeling the loss of one of Hollywood’s most visible power couples. Shortly after the announcement was published, ‘Ben Affleck’ and ‘Ben and Jen’ became trending topics on Twitter.
