Ben Affleck denied reports he was dating his children’s nanny, Christine Ouzounian, in the wake of his separation from Jennifer Garner, threatening to sue Us Weekly for their original report.
On Wednesday, the tabloid magazine released an article claiming that Affleck was dating Ouzounian, a 28-year-old former nanny who cared for Affleck’s three children for a few months earlier this year. According to the report Ouzounian was hired by Garner and Affleck to care for their children Violet, 9, Seraphina, 6, and Samuel, 3, in the spring, in the midst of Affleck and Garner’s secret trial separation.
The story confirmed the affair with various anonymous sources, including one identified only as a friend of Ouzounian, who allegedly told the mag, “They would hang out with the kids. And they were very flirty.”
Another source allegedly told People that Affleck and Ouzounian allegedly would meet at the Hotel Bel Air to carry on the affair, and another source claimed Garner fired Ouzounian after discovering their relationship. The timeline of Ouzounian’s employment with Garner and Affleck is unclear. People reported that Ouzounian was working for the couple when they announced their divorce on June 30. In fact, the report claims that Ouzounian was in the Bahamas with the family for their post-split announcement vacation and that Garner did not learn of the alleged affair until after.
Affleck has denied all allegations against him and released multiple statements to that affect, telling E! News, “It’s tabloid journalism hiding behind blind sources. It’s a shameful ploy to stay relevant for the magazine.”
A representative for Affleck told another reporter that all reports of an affair were “complete garbage and full of lies.”
“You shouldn’t be able to hide behind ‘blind sources’ and attempt to destroy families going through a difficult time. The tabloid [Us Weekly] decided to construct stories in order to sell magazines. It’s like story time in kindergarten. It’s shameful and desperate,” a representative for Affleck told Page Six.
Affleck’s representative added that the actor could sue the magazine, saying, “We are considering legal options.”
Furthermore, sources told E! News that Affleck is not dating anyone, and neither is Garner. “Ben’s focus has been on his family and his work – with family coming first. Dating is not his focus and it hasn’t been his focus throughout the separation period,” the source said.
Ouzounian has not commented on the reports, but more information about the mysterious nanny has emerged. The 28-year-old was born and raised in Southern California and moved to Arizona to attend Arizona State University. She is reportedly an employee at a “high-end Beverly Hills nanny agency” and previously worked as a nanny for Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka. She reportedly has a twin sister, Caty Ouzounian, who works as a personal assistant and house manager for celebrities, including former Spice Girl Melanie Brown.
