Two of Hollywood's hottest leading men could be teaming up soon.
Fresh off the success of his bank heist flick The Town, Ben Affleck is currently in talks to direct a new hostage movie, Argo, based on the Iranian hostage crisis in 1979-1981. George Clooney, who was the executive producer and star of 2005's Syriana, which took place in part in Iran, would join Affleck on the film, though it is unclear in what capacity, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Iranian government held 52 hostages in Tehran for 444 days, until the CIA was able to create a hoax that six U.S. diplomats were actually part of a film crew, thus allowing them to come home. The movie's screenplay will be based on a Wired magazine article, "How the CIA Used a Fake Sci-Fi Flick to Rescue Americans from Tehran." —ISHITA SINGH
