Things weren’t so sweet in the round of 16 on last night’s episode of BattleBots on ABC. Every-Bot-y brought its “A” game as the race for the finals and the “Giant Nut” intensified. All the bots and all the teams that represented them came to play no games in this important and decisive round of 16.

Minotaur vs. Warhead:

Winner: Minotaur

Minotaur was on a serious rampage on last night’s episode of BattleBots. In what seemed like the shortest battle of the entire competition, Warhead came out fighting but could not stand the raft of Minotaur and its deadly blows. Once the winner was announced, Team Minotaur couldn’t hide their excitement and were looking ahead to the finals and taking the Giant Nut back home to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Poison Arrow vs. Hypershock:

Winner: Poison Arrow

Fresh off the round of 32, Hypershock was ready to romp! The tough robot, who was a favorite coming into the 16 was ready to stake its claim in the quarterfinals. However, Poison Arrow had other plans for its opponent and saw to it that those plans were met! Although Hypershock came into the fight with a whole lot of aggression and strength, it was still no match for Posion Arrow who claimed the win and was on its way to the elite eight. Poison Arrow definitely put on for its hometown of Houston, Texas last night!

Red Devil vs. Bombshell:

Winner: Bombshell

Red Devil and Bombshell gave the crowd what they came for in the most intense battle of the night and in the round of 16. Both bots went blow for blow for the whole three minutes trying to solidify their spot in the elite eight. Early in the match, Bombshell sustained a malfunction with its vertical spinner but this still didn’t stop the bot from fighting to the death. By the end of the round, Bombshell was the winner and on its way to the quarterfinals.

Razorback vs. Bronco

Winner: Bronco

There was a whole lot of tossing going on in the match between Razorback and Bronco. Bronco came out swinging and throwing in this brutal match and did not let up on its opponent razorback until it was completely immobile. After going back and forth with each other, Bronco finally secured the win by tossing Razorback into mid air and then watched as Bronco fell to its doom. By the end of the round of 16, Bronco was on to the next one!

Every bot came out fighting in the round of the “not so sweet sixteen.” As the competition boils down to the final eight robots, it’s going to get even more severe. I’ll definitely be watching next week to see who will take it all in the finals!
