Actress Leslie Grace, who was set to star in the new Batgirl, has shared a sneak peek at some shots from the now-canceled film.
In an Instagram post looking back on 2022, the In The Heights actress shared behind-the-scenes footage from Batgirl, which was permanently shelved by Warner Bros. in August after test screenings were received poorly.

Fans got a first-time look at the star’s Batgirl costume, complete with purple body-sculpting armor and matching signature superhero mask and cape. The yellow embellishments on the costume is reminiscent of the suit Michael Keaton donned in his role as Batman. Keaton would’ve returned for a role in the upcoming movie along with leads J.K. Simmons and Brendan Fraser.
Grace also included some brief clips of stunt training footage and moments from filming.
“Thank u for teachin’ me, 2022. You were singular in many ways that will stay with me,” Grace wrote in the caption. “My gratitude and love for life is much deeper thanks to the experiences you brought me. I take your lessons with me as we part.”
The film’s directors were in post-production when the company made the decision to shelve it. Fraser told Variety the decision to cancel the superhero movie was “tragic.”
“Leslie Grace was fantastic,” the actor said. “She’s a dynamo, just a spot-on performer. Everything that we shot was real and exciting and just the antithesis of doing a straightforward digital all-green-screen thing.”
