Barry Manilow married his longtime manager Garry Kief in a private ceremony last year.
Manilow and Kief held a surprise wedding last year at the singer’s Palm Springs, Calif., home, People has confirmed. The nuptials were attended by 20 to 30 guests, who had been told that they were attending a lunch and had no idea that the two would be exchanging vows.
The two men “are committed to one another and have been for a very long time,” a Manilow source says. “They have a great relationship. Garry has always been there for Barry.”
Manilow and Kief are wearing wedding bands to mark the wedding, though they’ve not signed any official paperwork
Manilow, who has been a force in the music industry since the 70s, has never officially come out of the closet as a gay man. However, the “Mandy” singer has apparently never taken great pains to hide his sexuality either, according to the source. After decades of success, Manilow is ready to be more open about whom he loves.
“He’s at a point now where he’s got his career and personal life in a great place and he really doesn’t care what people think,” the source says. “He’s in love and happy.”
Manilow has not personally commented on reports about his wedding.
