Barron Trump Won’t Serve As RNC Delegate After Mom Melania Trump Vetoes The Idea
Former President Donald Trump‘s youngest son, Barron Trump, will not be a delegate at the Republican National Convention due to “prior commitments.” His mother, Melania Trump‘s, office released a statement on her son’s behalf.
“While Barron is honored to have been chosen as a delegate by the Florida Republican Party, he regretfully declines to participate due to prior commitments.”
On Friday, the Florida Republican Party chose Barron as a delegate for the Republican National Convention in July. Florida GOP chair Evan Power also selected three of Barron’s siblings, Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump and Tiffany Trump, to be among the 41 delegates. Other delegates include the spouses of the Trump children: Kimberly Guilfoyle, engaged to Trump Jr., and Michael Boulos, married to Tiffany.
Barron has stayed out of politics at Melania’s request. He is often spotted with her, such as during Easter brunch in March. Melania also stayed out of the public after her mother’s passing in January. Speculation about the state of Melania and Trump’s marriage sparked due to Melania’s absence from her husband’s side as he underwent several criminal trials for the hush money case.
While Barron is no longer a delegate, it is still being determined if the former president’s son will appear. The high school senior will be graduating next week. The Trumps have not confirmed which university Barron will attend, but New York University appears to be his first choice.
“He’s really been a great student. And he does like politics. It’s sort of funny,” Trump said about Barron. “He’s a senior now in high school, and he’ll be going to college. And you know, a lot of these choices of colleges are changing because you see what’s going on in the last month.”
Last week, the judge in Trump’s hush money trial allowed the former president to attend Barron’s high school graduation which will take place next week.
