Barron Trump May Break Family Tradition By Attending NYU
Barron Trump, 18, is about to embark on a new chapter in his life—attending college. Barron could attend Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania like his father, former President Donald Trump, or go abroad to his mother, Melania Trump‘s home country, Slovenia.
Instead, New York University seems to be Barron’s first choice school. NYU is only a few miles from his family’s building, Trump Tower. Previously, Barron’s parents said they were looking at U. Penn as one of the schools Barron could attend.
With a switch in the family’s college history, it is still unclear how Trump will react, considering the former president holds Ivy League universities in high regard.
“Barron’s very tall—about six-eight. And he’s a good kid. He’s a good-looking kid. He’s a great student, very good student,” Trump said about his son in September 2023.
Still, according to U.S. News & World Report, NYU is considered the 35th-best school in the nation. It currently has an acceptance rate of 12%, a little more than U. Penn’s 7%. NYU boasts several famous alumni, including Martin Scorsese, Anna Hathaway and Timothée Chalamet.
Of the four older Trump children from Trump’s first and second marriage, Donald Jr., Ivanka and Tiffany attended their father’s alma mater. Eric, who attended Georgetown University, was the only one not to have gone to U. Penn.
On Easter, Barron was photographed with his mother at a brunch in Mar-a-Lago.
Last year, the former president claimed that the FBI searched Barron’s bedroom when it raided Mar-a-Lago looking for classified documents illegally taken at the end of his term.
