Barack Obama On Trayvon Martin: 'If I Had A Son, He'd Look Like Him'
President Barack Obama held a press conference at the White House Rose Garden on Friday to announce the nomination of Dartmouth College President Jim Yong Kim to be World Bank president, but he also took time to comment for the first time on the death of Trayvon Martin, 17, an African-American boy who was fatally wounded in Florida nearly a month ago.
"I can only imagine what these parents are going through," Obama said, according to CBS News, "and when I think about this boy, I think about my own kids, and I think every parent in America should be able to understand why it is absolutely imperative that we investigate every aspect of this and that everybody pulls together, federal, state and local, to figure out how this tragedy happened."
Obama added that he and Martin bore a close resemblance. "You know, if I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon," he said.
