Michael Whitington, a 45-year-old Denver man, has what’s being called the ‘happiest mug shot ever.’ Whitington was arrested on Sept. 23 when police say he robbed a bank right before closing on Denver's 16th Street pedestrian mall and then tried to escape on a light-rail train. Denver police stopped the train and arrested him. Once processed, he was asked to take a mug shot, and so Whitington flashed a toothy grin, widened his eyes and gaped happily.
Whitington has been charged with one count of robbery and is still in custody with a bond set at 5,000. Regardless of the bond, Whitington is due to appear in court on Tuesday, where he’ll have another opportunity for some photo-ops. It unclear at this time what is behind Whitington’s pleasant mug shot.
