Bam Margera sues ‘Jackass Forever’ Team Members Over Firing

Bam Margera has filed suit against multiple parties who were involved with the production of Jackass Forever. Margera declared that his termination from the upcoming film was unfair and that he was discriminated against.

On Monday, Margera sued Johnny Knoxville, Paramount Pictures’ Jeff Tremaine and Spike Jonze. Jonze and Tremaine are the directors of Jackass Forever. The lawsuit claims that Knoxville, Tremaine and Jonze forced him to enter a “wellness agreement” while he was undergoing rehab in 2019. The suit explains that Margera was pressured into the agreement during a time of immense emotional distress in his life.

“The Wellness Agreement took its toll on Margera. For months, Margera was obligated to complete daily drug tests, multiple times per day, both scheduled and unscheduled, requests for which could come in at any hour of the day or night,” the lawsuit details. “Margera was subject to countless breathalyzer and urinalysis tests, which he submitted to and passed repeatedly for several months without objection or incident. However, in doing so, his ability to travel, work, and effectively live life were completely constricted.”

He was also prescribed an array of medications through this arrangement which he states negatively altered his mental state.

Margera later tested positive for Adderall. He says this didn’t violate the agreement because it was needed to treat his attention deficit disorder. “Rather, Defendants’ wrongful termination of Margera stems from the fact that one of the numerous drug tests Margera was forced to submit to demonstrated that he was taking prescription Adderall. Defendants knew full well that Margera had to take Adderall to treat his attention deficit disorder,” the lawsuit states. Margera also asserts protection Americans With Disabilities Act, claiming discrimination based on his mental conditions.

“Defendants at all times intended to employ Margera long enough that he would develop ideas for content, stunts, and pranks featured in the movie, and then terminate him once those ideas were received, and refuse to pay him anything for his work.” the suit additionally contends.

Margera will also seek to stop Jackass Forever from releasing. He protests that he made the film possible through his previous work with Jackass. He will seek payment for his part in the Jackass series that made the film possible in his opinion.

Margera was a cast member of Jackass when the reality comedy show aired from 2000-2002. The series was later continued through several films produced by Paramount Pictures. The release date of Jackass Forever is currently set for October 22, 2021.
