BAFTAs 2016: ‘The Revenant’ Wins For ‘Best Picture’

At Sunday’s British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs), The Revenant took home the awards for Best Picture, Best Actor and Best Director. The film was up against The Big Short and Spotlight for Best Picture.

The film, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, is in the critic’s favor this award season. It won for Best Actor and Director at this year’s Golden Globes and is in the forefront in the Oscars race.

During his acceptance speech, DiCaprio thanked his mother for the years of dedication she put in for his acting career. He also wished her a happy birthday.

Winning director Alejandro G Inarritu wished his wife a happy anniversary and described the win as “overwhelming.” He said DiCaprio’s “talent and commitment” to the “risky project” had “kept the film breathing.”
