AJ McLean and his wife, Rochelle, announced their decision to end their 12-year-long marriage after more than a year of being separated.

On January 1, the statement was posted on Instagram.

“As you all know we have been separated for over a year now,” the couple wrote. “While we have hoped for reconciliation we have decided to officially end our marriage.”

“It is with deep love and respect that we have made this decision,” they went on to say. “Our focus now is moving forward in the healthiest possible way with friendship and coparenting our girls at the forefront of this next chapter.

“We appreciate your kindness respect and privacy at this time,” they added. “Thank you, Alexander and Rochelle McLean.”

AJ and Rochelle got married in Los Angeles back in 2009 after dating for two years. They have two daughters, Elliot McLean and Lyric McLean.

They explained their separation in a statement in March 2023.

“Marriage is hard, but worth it,” they said. “We have mutually decided to separate temporarily to work on ourselves, and on our marriage with the hope of building a stronger future.”

“The plan is to come back together and continue to nurture our love for one another and our family,” AJ and Rochelle clarified. “We ask for respect and privacy at this time. Separation is hard enough without the commentary, please be kind and remember there are children involved.”

AJ celebrated two years of sobriety last September.

He also mentioned that he would participate in an intensive ten-week program to help with his mental health once the Backstreet Boys DNA World Tour ended in May 2024.
