Former Bachelorette star Josh Seiter announced on Tuesday that he is “alive and well” after being pronounced dead on Instagram a day before.
“As you can see, I am alive and well. My account was hacked. For the last 24 hours, I’ve been trying desperately to get into it. Somebody was playing a cruel joke and mocking my mental illness and the struggles I’ve gone through with depression and suicide attempts,” he said in a video posted to Instagram.
In July 2021, Seiter publicly spoke out about his struggles with bipolar disorder and anxiety and told his fans that he had attempted to commit suicide.
Multiple news outlets reported that Seiter had died on Monday based on a now-deleted Instagram post from his account.

“It is with an extremely heavy heart that we share the tragic news of Joshua’s unexpected passing. As all who knew him can attest, Joshua was an incredibly bright light in an increasingly dim world,” the post read.
Media organizations have reached out to Meta, which owns Instagram, seeking more information about the hack.
