‘Bachelorette’ Star Hannah Brown Apologies For Using The N–Word In Instagram Live Video

Former Bachelorette Hannah Brown has apologized for using the n–word in an Instagram Live video.

Brown posted on her Instagram story, “I owe you all a major apology. There is no excuse and I will not justify what I said. I have read your messages and seen the hurt I have caused. I own it all. I am terribly sorry and know that whether in public or private, this language is unacceptable. I promise to do better.”

On May 16, Brown posted a video of herself trying to remember the words to DaBaby’s song “Rockstar.” She stopped herself after saying the n–word, but then continued to sing the song.

Fans and viewers of the Instagram Live drew attention to what Brown said in the comments during the video. She originally claimed that she did not realize that she had said it. The video has since been removed.

Another member of The Bachelor Franchise and former The Bachelor contestant Bekah Martinez commented on what had happened on her own Instagram story. She said, “How are people still gonna defend CELEBS with access to SOOO much privilege, knowledge, and education saying the N-word…even if it’s ‘just the lyrics to a song’…especially when that person had the wherewithal to skip over the F-word lyrics first. We’ve GOT to hold people accountable to do better otherwise we’re continuing to prioritize the feelings of white people (and someone we ‘stan’) over ending our country’s loooong history of casual racism and flippant anti-blackness. So no, it’s not cool to just sing it along the lyrics of a song. especially not ON YOUR PLATFORM WITH MILLIONS OF FOLLOWERS?!! smh. it’s 2020.”

Brown posted an Instagram photo of her at the beach with the caption, “BYOBubbles if you wanna beach with me.” Many commented on photo addressing what had happened on Brown’s Instagram Live video expressing disappointment in Brown’s choices and actions.
