The end of Matt James‘ season on The Bachelor is coming to a close and with it comes drama that no one saw coming.
According to Reality Steve, James ends up picking contestant Rachael Kirkconnell after a dramatic last episode. James’ final two contestants were Michelle Young and Kirkconnell. Both contestants meet James’ mom, but James breaks it off with Young on their last date. Steve said James told her he loved her but was not in love with her.
After sending Young home, James cancels his final date with Kirkconnell after reflecting on a surprise conversation with his estranged father. Kirkconnell allegedly freaks out that James does not want to spend time with her.
James sent her a letter apologizing for canceling and asking her to meet him by the lake where they had their overnight date. At the lake, James tells Kirkconnell that he can’t propose to her, but that he’s in love with her and wants her in his life. The couple agree to continue dating.
Kirkconnell recently received backlash for past racist actions resurfacing on the internet. Between that controversy and Chris Harrison’s drama. James posted on social media calling The Bachelor franchise to do better.
James and Kirkconnell allegedly broke up after Valentines Day and their breakup and Kirkconnell’s controversial actions will be discussed at the After The Final Rose special.
Rumors began circulating that James has been seeing contestant Heather Martin, but nothing has been confirmed.
