The remaining contestants joined bachelor Arie Luyendyk for a weekend away in Lake Tahoe on episode four of The Bachelor.

THE BACHELOR RECAP

And with the traveling, the series still did not liven up. The first one-on-one date goes to Seinne, and the pair go parasailing together. Their conversation goes just as well as any previous chat Arie has had with any of the girls: “I love the sound of water crashing,” says Seinne. “That’s so awesome,” replies Arie.

They then talk about Arie’s younger brother getting married and how good of a kisser Seinne is. She opens up a bit about her parent’s rocky marriage and how she is afraid of love and of disappointment. Apparently wanting to fix Seinne, Arie offers her the date rose and tells her he will give her that perfect love story. They head off to an outdoor country concert, and Arie has trouble dipping her while dancing on a platform. Back at the hotel, Maquel gets sad news that her grandfather has passed away, and she decides to leave the show.

The next day, Chelsea, Krystal, Becca, Marikh, Ashley, Jacqueline, Jenna, Tia, Kendall, Lauren, Brittany and Caroline get ready for a wilderness hike as their group date. They all meet up with a retired green beret combat commander and his wife, who teach the women basic survival skills. These include eating bugs and drinking your own urine (however Arie stops them before they sip saying that part is just a joke). Kendall seems the most fearless in the date, as she, Arie, and Tia eat worms, while Krystal looks disgusted in the corner.

In the final portion of the date, the women are divided into three teams and given a map and supplies, and instructed to locate “the oasis.” When they arrive, there is a hot tub and the women and Arie sit in a circle to chat. During the evening part of the date, Arie steals Lauren away and they talk about what he is looking for in a partner. Later, Kendall talks to Arie about her passion for taxidermy, and Krystal complains to the other women about her lack of intimacy with Arie.

Finally, Krystal gets a chance to talk with Arie one-on-one. She cries and tells him she wishes has could have waited for their one-on-one date because she feels like she has a target on her back around the other women. Tia interrupts the awkward moment, and once Krystal leaves she immediately stops crying, and it becomes clear that the talk was just a ruse. Tia tells Krystal to stop playing the victim, and we have our first feud of the season. At the end of the night, Arie gives the date rose to Tia, to Krystal’s dismay.

The next day, Bekah gets a one-on-one date with Arie, and the two go horseback riding and end up back at the hot tub at “the oasis.” They kiss for a long time and don’t really make any deep conversational connection. At dinner, the date gets awkward when Arie asks if she is ready for all this and Bekah basically says no. Finally, he asks her age because she has refused to say until now, and it turns out she is just 22. “Oh my god,” is Arie’s reply. He says he is looking for a wife and Bekah responds that she can’t reassure him that it could be her because that’s not how love works. They couldn’t be further from on the same page, but he still doesn’t send her home.

That night, Arie hands Bekah the rose. When there should be a cocktail party, host Chris Harrison shows up and cancels the party, taking us immediately to the rose ceremony. The women moving on to next week are Lauren, Kendall, Ashley, Becca, Chelsea, Jenna, Jacqueline, Marikh and Krystal, plus Seinne and Bekah, who received date roses. This means we say goodbye to Brittany and Caroline.
