The Bachelor Monday night picked up right where Sunday night’s ended, with Britt in the midst of a complete meltdown after Chris Soules gave his date rose to Kaitlyn.

The Bachelor Recap

Instead of sticking around to fight for the top spot in Soules’ heart, Britt decided to take herself out of the competition. When she tried to apologize to Chris after changing her mind about wanting to leave, Chris tells her he’s not interested in keeping her around any longer after her dramatic display in front of the other girls. He also throws in a jab about learning her real feelings about his small hometown in Iowa before walking her out. During the Rose Ceremony, Chris decides to say goodbye to Carly as well.

Hometown Dates

Chris’ first hometown date is to Shreveport, La., where Becca calls home. He’s excited to spend some more time with Becca, but is nervous about meeting her large family, including her parents. The parents, however, are just as nervous to meet him, as Becca – who still hasn’t told Chris she’s a virgin – has never brought a guy home to meet them. In their private chats with the bachelor, both Becca’s sister and her mom state matter-of-factly that Becca doesn’t do intimacy well and is not comfortable with casual affection. Chris seems a bit worried at first, but gets reassured during a ferris wheel make out.

Chris’ next stop is in Chicago to see Whitney. Since Whitney knows that Chris visits Chicago a lot to see his sisters, she opts out of giving him a tour of the city and instead gives him a tour of her work. At the fertility clinic, Whitney shows him the ropes of making a baby – from the “man room” with its Playboys to the laboratory. Afterwards, they head to dinner with Whitney’s sister, brother-in-law, uncle and grandmother. Things go smoothly enough, except for when Chris asks Whitney’s sister for permission to ask for her hand in marriage should Whitney be the one. Her response? Ask me again when you don’t have three other girlfriends.

For Kaitlyn’s hometown date, Chris flies off to Phoenix. Instead of touring the sites, Kaitlyn brings him to a recording studio where they will write and record their own rap. The rap is bad, but Chris’ rapping is worse despite his best effort. Thankful to be done with the embarrassing date, Chris goes with Kaitlyn to meet her parents and step-parents. Kaitlyn’s mom, bubbling with energy, feels like Kaitlyn is exuding love and fully supports her relationship with Chris. After the easygoing meal, Kaitlyn takes Chris out to show him her surpise – a sign that reads “Kaitlyn [heart] Chris.”

Finally, Chris goes to Jade’s small hometown in Nebraska. He’s excited to learn more about Jade, who he thinks of as “a small-town girl next door” who shares similar “Midwest values” to him. He’s surprised when he hears Jade’s brother describe her as a wild mustang and her father concede that she’s been “too much” for previous boyfriends. After the family time, Jade goes back to Chris’ hotel room with him, where she finally opens up about the “liberating” point in her life where she decided not to say no to anything, which included a Playboy shoot. Chris’ discomfort comes over him in phases – from amusement, to embarrassment, to shock. Despite his discomfort, he tells Jade that the shoot doesn’t change his opinion of her and wouldn’t affect their relationship.

Although Chris had reassured Jade that the pictures were irrelevant to his feelings for her, she’s the one sent packing after the Rose Ceremony in which Becca, Kaitlyn and Whitney received the three roses.

Next week, the bachelor will be vacationing with the final three women in Bali.
