A baby seal played with surfers in the U.K., joining them on their surfboards and has become a viral video sensation.
Matt Stanley and Andrew Flounders were surfing off the coast of Northumberland when the encountered the friendly seal.
“This one nudged Andrew’s foot in the water and started getting curious,” Stanely said.
The baby seal eagerly attempted to join the men on their surfboards, but kept sliding off, as seen in the adorable video.
“It kept sliding off, but every time you caught a wave it would surf in on the white water,” Stanley recounted.
The video, reportedly captured via GoPro, has over 2 million hits on YouTube.
The surfers had a great time with the seal, but, as some YouTube commenters pointed out, seals are not always friendly and can sometimes signal the presence of a shark.
“They [seals] can be very friendly so something like this can happen even in the wild, but we would still advise people not to touch them,” said a spokesperson for the Cornish Seal Sanctuary at Gweek.
