B.B. King’s recent death has left two of his daughters – Patty King and Karen Williams – believing that the blues’ legend was poisoned.
Patty King and Karen Williams are alleging in court documents that their late father’s closest associates poisoned him, leading to his death at the age of 89. The daughters made separate, but identical affidavits.
“I believe my father was poisoned and that he was administered foreign substances to induce his premature death,” Patty King and Karen Williams said in their affidavits. “I believe my father was murdered.”
Specifically, the woman are alleging that King’s business manager LaVerne Toney and his personal assistant Myron Johnson provided their father with medication that induced diabetic shock.
The coroner’s preliminary autopsy results do not support the daughters’ claims, according to CNN. At the time of King’s death, the attending physician found his cause of death to be multi-infarct dementia, a condition that is caused by a series of small strokes.
Prior to B.B. King’s death on May 14 in home hospice care in Las Vegas, Patty King had brought him to the hospital after finding him dehydrated while in Toney’s care. Back in November, she and her husband had filed a police report accusing Tony of elder abuse and burglary.
