Azealia Banks‘ latest Twitter rant – this one against Zayn Malik – has caused her to lose her headlining slot at London music festival Rinse Born and Bred.
Banks took to Twitter and Instagram Tuesday to accuse Malik of ripping off her previous music videos for his new music video for “Like I Would.” She wrote, “Damn Zayn be mood boarding the f–k of out me. I’m not mad about this though. Zayn is a cutie pie.”
On Twitter, Malik had written a pair of tweets that Banks believed were directed at her. “No lies … I see you reaching but I don’t care ?✌?️,” he wrote. “My @’s too good for you.”
Whether or not the tweets were actually meant for her, they set the rapper off. “Dude, I make better music than you. Simmer down with that fake white boy rebellion and that wannabe beiber swag,” Banks tweeted. “lol u a b–ch ni–a for even responding like that. Keep sucking this yung rapunxel d–k u hairy curry scented b–ch.”
Banks went on, “imma start calling you punjab you dirty b–ch. you a d–k rider for real for real. Ride this d–k until the wheels fall off Punjab.”
Banks then took aim at Malik’s past as one of the five members of U.K. boy band One Direction, suggesting that he was only in the group to give it some diversity. “lol u were the only paki in the group and you knew you were there for a reason,” she wrote. “you were the the token brown boy. All those white boys in 1D disrespected you and made you their PET. you were only apart of 1d to draw brown attention. You are and ALWAYS will be a TOKEN to the UK.”
Banks didn’t stop there. And Malik eventually responded, tweeting at Banks, “why you been saying nasty things about me ? I wasn’t talking about you lol?”
Following Banks’ racist and homophobic tweets, Rinse Born & Bred festival organizers announced that she was no longer welcome to perform there on June 5. “We have decided to cancel Azealia Banks’ headline appearance at Rinse Born & Bred,” the statement reads. “Rinse Born & Bred is a celebration of rave culture and has been created for EVERYONE. We celebrate inclusivity and equality.”
