March 8 was International Women’s Day and many Marvel superheros took the time to celebrate all the heroines in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

 

Captain America (Chris Evans) celebrated old lover Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) and S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp)

 

Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) chose to celebrate the only and only Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), his girlfriend, longtime associate and the current CEO of Stark Industries.

Thor (Chris Hemsworth), the Prince of Asgard, took the day to honor the goddess in his life including Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Sif (Jaimie Alexander) and Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), his love interest.

Newest Avengers recruit, the Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) also shared photos of all the important women in Wakanda, including Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Princess Shuri (Letitia Wright), Okoye (Danai Gurira) who is head of the Dora Milaje and Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) a spy for Wakanda.

 

Current female members and honorary members were also honored on Thursday, such as the Black Widow (Scarlett Johannson), the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), S.H.E.I.L.D. agent Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) and MJ Jones (Zendaya), who is Spider-Man’s (Tom Holland) love interest.

 

The Guardians of the Galaxy, who are also supposed to make an appearance in the Avengers: Infinity War also celebrated International Women’s Day by celebrating Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Nebula (Karen Gillian) and Mantis (Pom Klementieff)

Aside from the world of the Avengers, Marvel also honored International Women’s Day by releasing the long awaited season 2 of Jessica Jones, starring Krysten Ritter as the title role, on Netflix.
