Authorities Cannot Confirm If Colorado Body Found Is Connected To Missing Girl, Jessica Ridgeway
Authorities in the Denver suburb of Arvada, Colorodo have discovered a body in the area of Pattridge Park less than a week after Jessica Ridgeway, 10, went missing nearby on Friday. Police are not yet confirming or denying if the body belongs to Ridgeway.
"At this point, we don't have additional information we can provide," said Westminster police spokesperson Trevor Materasso Thursday morning, reports Mercury News. The authorities have not called off their search for Jessica, however, continuing to look in neighboring areas. Her backpack was found on Sunday a few miles away.
Jessica was last seen by her mother, Sarah Ridgeway, early Friday morning, when she left to meet friends at a park about a block from her home and then walk to Witt Elementary School. Jessica never made it to school or to the designated spot where she met her friends.
Sarah, who works nights and sleeps during the day, missed a phone call from Jessica's school informing her of her daughter's absence. When she awoke around 4:30 p.m., eight hours after Jessica's departure, she called the police. Jessica's parents are not suspected in her disappearance.
