Aubrey Plaza Crashes MTV Movie Awards Stage, Tries To Steal Will Ferrell’s Award

Aubrey Plaza crashed the stage at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday night when Will Ferrell was up to accept the Comic Genius Award, and attempted to remove the trophy from his hands. Plaza was later escorted out of the venue.

When Plaza took hold of the golden popcorn trophy, Ferrell kept a firm grip on it while asking the Parks and Recreation actress if she was OK. After saying that she was, Plaza returned to her front row seat. During the commercial break that followed the bizarre incident, Plaza was escorted off the Sony Pictures Studio lot by MTV execs and security personnel, according to Entertainment Weekly.

One possible explanation for the stage-crash could have been that the actress was making an attempt to promote her new film. It’s title, The To-Do List, was scrawled across her chest when she took to the platform alongside Ferrell.

In 2009, Kanye West rushed to the stage to swipe an award given to country music star Taylor Swift – a move that received an immense amount of backlash for the rapper.

On Twitter, Plaza quipped, “Thanks for the advice @kanyewest went better than planned! #mtvmovieawards #chrisbosh #thesecret."
