British actor Aubrey Morris, who was best known for playing Mr. Deltoid in A Clockwork Orange, died Wednesday. He was 89.
Morris’ agent confirmed his passing, reported Variety.
In Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange, Morris threw himself into the part of a probation officer, who cautions Alex (Malcolm McDowell) about continuing on his self-destructive path. “I’m warning you, little Alex, being a good friend to you as always,” he says in his best-remembered scene. “The one man in this sore and sick community who wants to save you from yourself.”
In addition to A Clockwork Orange, Morris appeared in features The Wicker Man and Woody Allen’s Love and Death.
Morris’ TV credits include The Saint, The Sweeney, The Prisoner, The Avengers, Deadwood and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
Morris also was an accomplished stage actor.
