Ashley Madison Offering Large Reward For Information On Hackers Of Cheating Site

The media company behind Ashley Madison, eager to do some damage control, have offered a reward of $500,000 in Canadian currency (roughly $380,000 USD) for information on hacking group Team Impact.

Ashley Madison Offers Reward

Avid Life Media, which runs Ashley Madison, announced Monday through the Toronto police that they are willing to pay big money for tips about their hackers, reported NBC News.

“Today I can confirm that Avid Life Media is offering a $500,000 reward to anyone providing information that leads to the identification, arrest and prosecution of the person or persons responsible for the leak of the Ashley Madison database,” said Toronto Police Staff Superintendent Bryce Evans.

Evans also directly addressed the hackers, warning them that they will face legal repercussions for cracking into the Ashley Madison website and releasing the site users’ personal information.

“Team Impact, I want to make it very clear to you,” Evans said during a Monday press conference. “Your actions are illegal and we will not tolerate it.”

Evans also noted that the Toronto Police had heard two “unconfirmed reports” of suicides that resulted from the Ashley Madison leak.

High-profile users of Ashley Madison who have been outed include 19 Kids and Counting‘s Josh Duggar, Real Housewives of New York‘s Josh Taekman, attorney Jeff Ashton and Jersey Shore star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi’s husband Jionni LaValle.
