Comedian Arsenio Hall filed a libel lawsuit against musician Sinead O’Connor, yesterday morning, claiming that she slandered him and is spreading malicious lies. He is seeking no less than $5 million in damages, but a jury will most likely determine the value.
The Irish singer accused Hall of supplying hard drugs to Prince, who had Percocet discovered in his system after his death, and of spiking her marijuana at Eddie Murphy’s house party about 25 years ago. Hall denied the claims.
“Desperate, attention seeker Sinead O’Connor has maliciously published outlandish defamatory lies about comedian Arsenio Hall, falsely accusing him of supplying illegal ‘hard drugs’ ‘over the decades’ to the recently deceased music artist, Prince, and of spiking her with drugs once years ago,” the lawsuit says.
Hall also recounted the hostile relationship he believes O’Connor had with Prince, claiming they had a “feud” and once got into “a violent fistfight” with the late singer, where O’Connor “spat on him repeatedly after she told Prince ‘to go f–k himself,” according to The Rolling Stone.
“Hall will not stand idly by while O’Connor attempts to get attention for herself by recklessly spreading malicious, vile lies that he engaged in egregious criminal conduct which falsely links Hall to Prince’s death,” the lawsuit adds.
A longtime attorney for Prince, however, refuted the reports of drug use, calling any claims of the sort “foolish.”
The Irish singer posted this on her official Facebook page: “Two words for the DEA investigating where prince got his drugs over the decades…. Arsenio Hall (AKA Prince’s and Eddie Murphy’s b–h) Anyone imagining prince was not a long time hard drug user is living in cloud cuckoo land. Arsenio I’ve reported you to the Carver County Sherrif’s office. Expect their call. They are aware you spiked me years ago at Eddie murphy’s house. You best get tidying your man cave.”
She also shared a very long post on Facebook, further explaining her accusations against Hall that he spiked her at Murphy’s house.
