Arnold Schwarzenegger always said that he’d be back — and on Monday, July 16, 2018, he had some harsh words for President Donald Trump. At the Helsinki Summit press conference, Trump stood next to Russian leader Vladimir Putin and announced that he believed Putin’s assertions that Russia did not interfere in the 2016 United States election, in direct opposition to information he received from the FBI. Schwarzenegger, actor and former governor of California, has frequently spoke out against Trump, but Monday’s scandal sent him over the edge.

Schwarzenegger called Trump’s behavior “embarrassing,” and said, “you stood there like a little wet noodle, like a little fanboy.” The long term Republican did not mince words in his outrage. “I mean, you literally sold out — at this press conference — our intelligence community, our justice system, and worse of all, our country.” He expressed his disappointment that Trump did not uphold the attitude of Ronald Reagan’s famous plea to Mikhail Gorbachev at the Berlin Wall.

Last year, Schwarzenegger criticized Trump’s executive order to ban Syrian refugees from entering the United States in an interview with Extra. Trump responded by mocking Schwarzenegger’s role on The Apprentice. Schwarzenegger replaced Trump on the reality TV show when Trump ran for President. Trump stated that the show’s ratings declined and joked that he should “pray for Arnold.” Schwarzenegger responded by saying that the two men should switch jobs.
