Armie Hammer has bid farewell to his pickup truck, noting that he can’t afford gas as the primary reason for the sale. The 38-year-old star of The Social Network shared the news with his followers on social media Tuesday, detailing his decision in a candid video post.

Hammer, who purchased the vehicle as a Christmas gift to himself in 2017, expressed deep affection for the truck and reminisced about the memories associated with it. However, the actor revealed that the high cost of fuel had become unsustainable for him.

“I’ve invested around $400 to $500 in gas recently, and it’s simply not within my budget anymore,” Hammer explained in the video.

The actor’s financial situation has reportedly shifted since his highly publicized personal controversies in 2021, which included allegations of sexual misconduct and a subsequent investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department. These events significantly impacted his career in Hollywood.

Hammer disclosed that he has recently relocated to Los Angeles after spending time in the Cayman Islands following the finalization of his divorce from Elizabeth Chambers in June 2023. As part of this lifestyle change, he has opted for a more economical mode of transportation.

“I’ve acquired a new vehicle — it’s compact and hybrid,” Hammer stated. “I anticipate spending only about $10 monthly on fuel.”

The actor acknowledged the sentimental value of the truck, particularly for his children, Harper, 9, and Ford, 7. He mentioned that the vehicle had been a part of numerous family adventures, including camping trips and cross-country journeys.

“My kids aren’t thrilled about this decision,” Hammer admitted. “They’ve created many memories in this truck.”

Despite the emotional attachment, Hammer expressed optimism about the practical benefits of downsizing, such as easier parking and reduced fuel costs.
