Ariana Grande Pays Tribute To Whitney Houston On ‘Greatest Hits’ Finale

Ariana Grande channeled Whitney Houston in a beautiful tribute to the R&B legend, on the season finale of ABC’s Greatest Hits on Thursday night.

Ariana Grande Performs Tribute To Whitney Houston

Grande performed Houston’s classic hits “How Will I Know” and “Queen of the Night” during her tribute — donned in her retro sunglasses, pearl choker, black bodysuit, fishnet stockings and thigh high boots — topped off with an 80s style ponytail.

Grande’s vocals were spot on, delivering each high note and Houston’s iconic pitch and runs. The singer even danced around the stage, joined by a group of backup dancers, as they moved to the pop beats.

Grande is known for doing impressive impersonations of stars — during an episode of Saturday Night Live she did an impersonation of Houston, Britney Spears, Shakira and Celine Dion — she also delivered a perfect Christina Aguilera on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

“Honored to be paying tribute to my angel tonight,” Grande tweeted prior to her performance. “Hope you’re smiling.”

Back in 2013, Grande said that Houston was one of her musical icons. “Whitney holds such a special place in my heart. She inspired me to start singing as a little girl,” she told Billboard. “I’d watch The Bodyguard and tell my mom I wanted to do that one day. Her riffs are so precise and I love her tone. She’s my inspiration.”
