An explosion occurred during an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England. UK officials believe this to have been a terrorist attack carried out by a suicide bomber.
“Multiple fatalities” have been confirmed, with the police stating that 19 people are dead and 50 more are injured.
Authorities view the bombing as a “possible terrorist incident.” British Transport Police said an explosion occurred in the foyer of Manchester Arena at 10:35 p.m., around the time the concert finished. Emergency services rushed to the U.K.’s Manchester Arena within minutes.
Manchester Victoria station, which is under the arena, was also evacuated and all trains were canceled, although there were no reports of injuries there.
Greater Manchester Police made a tweet related to the incident. Updates continue as more details are revealed.
A witness who attended the concert said she felt a huge blast as she was leaving the arena, followed by screaming and a rush as thousands of people trying to escape.
A spokesman for Grande said the singer was “okay”. Her team is also said to be safe.
One Twitter user who witnessed the explosion recorded the panic on video. People are running out of the stadium, which has 21,000 seats and is the largest indoor arena in Europe.
