Ariana Grande and boyfriend Ethan Slater stepped into the spotlight as a couple once again, attending the prestigious National Board of Review Annual Awards Gala in New York City on Tuesday night. The duo, who first met on the set of the Wicked movie, engaged in a rare public display of affection during their united presence at the star-studded event.
Grande, who has been method dressing in a series of Glinda-coded looks following her role in Wicked, donned a silky baby-pink dress. Her shimmery white eyeshadow and sleek hair rounded off the look, channeling a modern-day fairy tale aesthetic. Meanwhile, Slater kept it classic and elegant in a sharp black suit paired with a crisp white shirt and polished dress shoes.
Throughout the evening, the couple was photographed laughing together, sharing warm embraces, and even dancing during the gala’s dinner portion. Their joy was visible as they mingled with fellow Wicked cast members, including Cynthia Erivo and Michelle Yeoh, celebrating the film’s recognition at the gala.
Grande and Slater’s relationship has sparked significant attention since their connection became known in mid-2023. Both were navigating major life changes at the time—Grande had recently separated from her husband, Dalton Gomez, while Slater was in the process of divorcing his high school sweetheart and wife, Lilly Jay. Despite the controversies surrounding their union, the pair seems to have found happiness together, increasingly bringing affectionate moments into the public eye.
While Grande made waves with her solo appearance at this year’s Golden Globes, Slater’s presence at Tuesday’s gala marked a meaningful moment for the couple.
Grande and Erivo lost out at Sunday’s Golden Globes, while Wicked itself took home the Box Office Achievement Award.
Tuesday’s gala, however, was dominated by Jon M. Chu’s Wicked, which earned recognition as Best Film and secured the Best Director honor for Chu. Additionally, a special award was presented to Erivo and Grande for their exceptional creative partnership. During their speeches, the duo exchanged heartfelt compliments, celebrating each other’s contributions.
