Argentine Police Raid Buenos Aires Hotel Where One Direction Star Liam Payne Fell To His Death

Argentine police raided the Buenos Aires hotel where the English singer-songwriter Liam Payne had fallen to his death.

Police in the capital reported that Payne fell to his death from a balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel on Oct. 16.

Eyewitnesses reported that he was acting erratically and needed to be escorted back to his room after he smashed his laptop in the lobby.

In a statement, Buenos Aires Security Ministry communications director Pablo Policicchio revealed that the singer “had jumped from the balcony of his room.”

Policicchio also noted that police rushed to the scene after getting an urgent call about an “aggressive man who could be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.”

A police special investigations unit went to the hotel late on Oct. 23 on orders from the public prosecutors’ office.

According to a government official, officers seized items, including computer hard drives and footage from hotel cameras.

The official spoke on the condition of anonymity one day later since they were not allowed to speak publicly.

The public prosecutors’ office stated that, after Payne’s death, police found substances in his hotel room and several destroyed objects and furniture.

Payne’s autopsy showed cocaine, crack and benzodiazepine – an antidepressant – in his system. It also showed “pink cocaine,” a drug made up of methamphetamine, ketamine, MDMA and additional substances.

He most likely used an aluminum pipe to ingest these drugs, as an improvised device had been found in his hotel room, as well as alcohol and other controlled substances.

His body will stay in Buenos Aires until the entire autopsy is finished.

An initial report showed that Payne sustained many traumas when he fell, causing internal and external bleeding.
