Arch Manning, Nephew Of NFL Legends Eli & Peyton Manning, Opens Up About His Future With Texas Longhorns
Texas Longhorns backup quarterback Arch Manning, the nephew of NFL greats Eli and Peyton Manning, put rumors to rest on Dec. 30 at Peach Bowl Media Day by pledging his loyalty to the University of Texas.
Since arriving in Austin, speculation surrounding the future of the Texas Longhorn has run wild. Recently, questions have spread about his upcoming NFL decision, as many have presumed he would be heading toward the NCAA Transfer portal.
However, Manning put those questions to rest when asked about the portal calendar at Peach Bowl Media Day.
“I really have no plans on entering the portal or anything, so I don’t really know about it, about the whole windows and everything,” Manning said in an interview.
While Manning remains a hugely-hyped backup, it is rare to see him speaking to the media.
Instead, Longhorns QB Quinn Ewers has been the eyes of the prize as he led the team to the College Football Playoffs last season when they lost to Washington in the semifinals.
In giving his allegiance to Texas, Manning addressed everything he had learned from Ewers over the last two years.
“What I have learned most about Quinn is how he handles the media, and he doesn’t really let that get to him,” Manning said. “He treats me the same. I know it’s probably not with me being the backup. Everyone’s trying to talk about it. But he doesn’t let it bother him at all, and he’s just one of the guys and one of my good friends.”
As Ewers plans to enter the 2025 NFL Draft, it leaves Manning as the future starter for the Horns. Until then, he will continue to fill Ewers’ role when needed.
“I’m just trying to do what I can when my name is called, make the most of my opportunities, and help our team win,” Manning said.
