Apple Unveils New iPad, iPhone & Apple TV Models

Apple introduced new models for some of its most popular devices at an event held in San Francisco’s Bill Graham Civic Auditorium Wednesday.

Apple’s New Products

“Today, we have the biggest news in iPad since the iPad,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook, introducing the iPad Pro, which boasts a 12.9-inch screen. “This is the most capable and powerful iPad we have ever created.”

In addition to the significantly larger size in comparison to the iPad Air 2, the iPad Pro has a faster processor that bests most portable PCs.

The new tablet, which will become available in November, starts at $799.

As for the new Apple TV, it has a revamped interface and a Siri-enabled remote. The main focus on the set-top box is the apps it can provide, which the company believes will be the future of TV.

“The app store is just as easy to use as it is on the iPhone,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet software and services. “We have also brought Apple Music to the big screen.”

Cue added of the accompanying remote, “Siri will search iTunes, Netflix, HBO and Showtime. We will be adding more over time.”

The Apple TV, which will become available in October, will start at $149.

The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will feature improved rear-facing and front-facing cameras. Additionally, the retina displays will double as a flash for front-facing photos, such as selfies. The video will be markedly improved as well, bumping up to 4K.

“When you shoot your video you get a higher degree of detail – in every frame, there are 8 million pixels,” said Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior VP of worldwide marketing.

The iPhone 6s line of smartphones will also introduce 3D touch to improve navigation. The phones will be available Sept. 25, with pricing starting at $199 for the iPhone 6s and $299 for the iPhone 6s Plus.
