Apple’s iPads have been iterated upon numerous times, enhancing the brand with new features with every generational leap. Notably, a new, well-made incarnation of the standard-sized iPad recently impressed. Moreover, the Pro branch of the family has recently obtained two new members: a 10.5-inch Apple iPad Pro and a 12.9-inch iPad Pro. So, with firmware that appears primed to run the upcoming iOS 11 operating system, how do Apple’s latest tablets fare?
Last year’s iPad Pro was already a well-realized package, so how could Apple build upon their prior achievement? iOS 11 support would be the biggest perceptible advancement, although there is a catch – iOS 11 will release during the fall, meaning the improvements it will bestow won’t be immediate. iOS 11 is known to make the user experience more computer-like, giving the ability to drag and drop files.
However, the hardware’s upgrades are apparent in the present. While the two models are mostly identical, there is a significant difference between their screens’ resolution: the 12.9-inch specimen hosts 2,732 x 2,048 pixels, whereas the 10.5-inch’s dimensions are 2,224 x 1,668. Likewise, the on-screen keyboards are marginally bigger. However, the two have identical specs.
In terms of memory, the smallest built-in amount is 64GB, although 256GB and 512GB models are available as well. Plus, per CNET’s review, the 10.5-inch’s battery life rests at a very commendable 15+ hours.
As per the norm, the latest iPad doubles as a camera, with two built-in on the front and back of the device. Respectively, they’re 7-megapixels and 12-megapixels. If you’re familiar with the iPhone 7’s cameras, you’re familiar with those located on these tablets. They’re the same level of quality, with 4k recording and image stabilization accounted for.
Ultimately, the latest Apple iPad Pro is an iPad Pro. It continues to refine itself, with the forthcoming iOS 11 promising to improve things further. However, in the interim, the iPad Pro is a well-made machine, even if It may not justify the cost if you have one of its predecessors. These iterations of the iPad Pro can cost you from $650 to $1,080 depending on which particular model you get.
