Anne Hathaway Has Fun Filming Nude Scenes

Perhaps after hours under the hot light of the film set, naked together, it's just not a big deal anymore to be totally unclothed in front of other people. That seems to be the case for Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway, who have no problem being nude together.

The two appear in a series of Entertainment Weekly covers naked and embracing and appear totally comfortable doing it. “I thought they’d be a little more tense about it than they were, but it was surprisingly low-key," photographer James White said. “I guess after making a movie like that with each other, it’s not too big of a deal.” The movie he's talking about is Love and Other Drugs, a romantic drama about a Viagra salesman played by Gyllenhaal, 29, and his tumultuous romance with Hathaway's character.

Though the two have had love scenes before in Brokeback Mountain, Hathaway, 27, admits there are still elements of filming the scenes that can be difficult. “There is that revoltingly embarrassing moment when you have to take your clothes off in front of strangers,” she said. “I mean, I don’t go to the beach in a bikini for a reason. So I thought, ‘Okay, I’m going to be in control. I’m going to do everything properly, disrobe at the last minute, and in between shots get the clothes back on.’ But then I found that every time I put my robe back on, it rubbed all the body makeup off, and that added 20 minutes to filming. As with all things in life, the second you stop making it about you and you make it about everyone else, it just got, dare I say, fun.”

Hathaway and Gyllenhaal have been grilled about the nudity in the film in most of their press appearances, but they insist that the movie is about more than just sex, even seeming somewhat baffled by the heavy attention being paid to the scenes. "Maybe I'm a little naive in thinking that the story trumps all the little naked presence," Gyllenhaal told MTV News. "We are naked a lot, that is for sure. I don't want to play it down either. We are naked a lot more than you normally see in movies, but I think us taking off our clothes in the movie is the result of us knowing that we cared about the story and the story is important to us."

"I just do it for the money," Hathaway added. "I don't care about the story." –AMY LEE
