Ahead of New York Fashion Week, supermodel Naomi Campbell and Vogue editor Anna Wintour shared a tense moment.

The 59-year-old supermodel made headlines on Tuesday when she appeared to be unhappy with Wintour at Harlem’s Fashion Row’s Fashion Show and Style Awards.

Campbell attended the event to receive the Fashion Icon Award and was introduced by the Vogue Magazine editor-in-chief, who made fun of the model’s inability to arrive on time.

Wintour seemingly targeted Campbell when saying, “I am a very punctual person, and I have the honor of presenting tonight to someone who is often late.”

Later, Wintour handed things over to Harper’s Bazaar Editor-in-Chief Samira Nasr, who also spoke about Campbell before presenting her award.

In accepting her award, Campbell addressed Wintour’s comment about the delay by saying, “Yes, Naomi’s always late.” Then, turning to Nasr, she noted, “Everything’s going to work out the way it’s meant to work out. It wasn’t my choice to have the other lady. I’d much rather have this.”

Clips of the moment went viral on social media, and gasps could be heard from the audience as Campbell referred to Wintour as “the other lady.”

While she was critical of the model, Wintour was not shy in listing some of Campbell’s positive characteristics in the speech. Wintour told the audience that Campbell is “bold, bright and entirely, unquestionably herself.”

In return, Campbell shared some warm words for Wintour:

“So thank you, Anna Wintour, for your support in my career from 1987, meeting a young black girl from South London in British Vogue offices and taking a chance in giving me a shoot.”
