Anna Wintour, Vogue‘s editor-in-chief, was awarded the Companion of Honour award by King Charles during an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace. Wintour has been editor of Vogue since 1988.
This award is presented to only 65 people at a time. Wintour, 75, has been responsible for many designers’ careers and organizes the annual Met Gala, one of the most influential events in the fashion world.
Wintour stood alongside well-known award recipients, including music legend Sir Elton John, Dame Judi Dench and Paul McCartney.
A notable moment at the ceremony was Wintour removing her sunglasses, which are a trademark of her personal brand.
The royal family wrote on X, “Congratulations, Dame Anna Wintour,” recognizing her achievement publicly.
Charles asked Wintour if this award meant she would be retiring from Vogue anytime soon, and she answered quickly and without hesitation, “No!”
