Angus T. Jones, 19, better known to audiences as Jake Harper from CBS’s smash sitcom Two and a Half Men, is going after the hand that feeds him, calling his show “filth.”
In a videotaped testimonial, Jones urges viewers to stop watching his show. “Please stop watching it and filling your head with filth," he said in the video. "If I am doing any harm, I don’t want to be here. I don’t want to be contributing to the enemy’s plan … You cannot be a true God-fearing person and be on a television show like that. I know I can’t.”
The testimonial is for the group known as The Forerunner Chronicles, who are linked to the Voice of Prophecy Seventh-Day Adventist church, where Jones worships. For appearing in such “filth,” Jones is handsomely compensated to the tune of $350,000 per episode.
Jones has been a cast member since 2003, as has the man who portrays his father on the show, Jon Cryer, 47. His former co-star, Charlie Sheen, 47, left the show in 2011, after a public meltdown. He was replaced by Ashton Kutcher. The ratings for the show have declined since Kutcher joined the cast. Currently, Men averages approximately 14 million viewers per episode, down from over 20 million last season when Kutcher debuted and gave the show an initial bump.
Entertainment chronicler The Hollywood Reporter reports that Jones will not appear in the next two episodes scheduled to shoot before the show goes on hiatus for the holidays. According to the magazine, this has nothing to do with Jones’ criticism of the show.
