Award-winning actress Angelina Jolie will be a visiting professor at the London School of Economics (LSE), teaching a new master’s course about women, peace and security in the upcoming 2016-2017 academic year.
“I am looking forward to teaching and to learning from the students, as well as to sharing my own experiences of working alongside governments and the United Nations,” said Jolie in a statement.
This masters course was launched by Jolie and Britain’s former foreign secretary, William Hague.
“It is vital that we broaden the discussion on how to advance women’s rights and end impunity for crimes that disproportionately affect women, such as sexual violence in conflict,” said U.N. special envoy Jolie in a statement.
LSE visiting professors participate in guest lectures, workshops and public events.
People are already taking to social media to comment on Jolie’s new job.
But this isn’t the first time Jolie and Hague have worked together. Jolie and Hague were both co-founders of the Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict Initiative in 2012. In 2014, both were co-chairs for a global summit on sexual violence.
