Did Angelina Jolie offend a group of female war victims? The would-be director's permit to film in Sarajevo has been denied by the culture minister of Bosnia.
Jolie, 35, was hard at work on her directorial debut in Hungary when her application to film in Bosnia was rejected because there was no screenplay attached, according to the BBC. The film is thought to be about a Bosnian woman and a Serbian man who fall in love between 1992 and 1995, but it was further reported that the characters would be a Serbian rapist and a Muslim victim.
Members of the Women Victims of War Association have reacted unfavorably to the news, saying that the movie would be "misleading history." Minister Gavrilo Grahovac revoked Jolie's license after meeting with the group. "They no longer have the authorization to shoot in Bosnia," he said. "They will have it if they send us the scenario with a story which will be different from what we have been told by people who read it." According to a representative of the studio, a script has now been sent to the officials. –AMY LEE
