Angelina Jolie Pleas With Ex Brad Pitt To Drop Bitter Lawsuit Over Winery

Actress Angelina Jolie has pleaded with her ex-husband, Brad Pitt, to drop his lawsuit against her regarding their once-shared French winery, Château Miraval.

The actress, through her attorney Paul Murphy, has made a public statement that urges Pitt to cease the battle and allow their family to begin to heal after the stressful process.

The legal saga began in 2022 when Pitt filed a lawsuit against Jolie with the claim that she had sold her 50% stake in the winery to a Russian billionaire, Yuri Shefler, after she had previously agreed to sell it to Pitt, who owns the other half. Jolie’s legal team, however, has asserted that she backed out of the agreement with Pitt due to his demand that she sign a “greatly expanded NDA” that would have barred her from legal discussion of his alleged abuse of her and their children.

In his latest statement, Murphy said, “While Angelina again asks Mr. Pitt to end the fighting and finally put their family on a clear path toward healing, unless Mr. Pitt withdraws his lawsuit, Angelina has no choice but to obtain the evidence necessary to prove his allegations wrong.” The attorney also suggested that Pitt tried to “punish and control Angelina” through the legal proceedings.

Pitt’s representatives, however, have characterized the case as a business-oriented dispute that became more complicated after Jolie’s team introduced personal matters into the proceedings. Pitt’s lawyers have argued that the NDA was merely intended to “protect the reputation of the Miraval brand” and not to control or punish Jolie.

The legal battle has taken a toll on the former couple, who were once one of Hollywood’s most prominent power couples. Jolie‘s team has repeatedly requested that Pitt share a number of third-party communications as evidence in the case, which Pitt’s lawyers have described as a “sensationalist fishing expedition” that seeks “wide-ranging and intrusive discovery into some of the most deeply personal aspects of her ex-husband’s life.”
