Angelina Jolie talked about her marriage to Brad Pitt and the possibility of her seeking political office in a recent interview with Vanity Fair.
Jolie and Pitt have been together since 2003 and have been raising six children. Marriage, however, has managed to add an extra element to their relationship. “It does feel different,” Jolie told Vanity Fair. “It feels nice to be husband and wife.”
As for the vows they exchanged in France back in August, their children had some say in what they were promising in their marriage. “They did not expect us never to fight, but they made us promise to always say, ‘Sorry,’ if we do. So they said, ‘Do you?,’ and we said, ‘We do!’ ”
The newlyweds are currently filming By the Sea together in Malta, a project that friends of the happy couple found daunting. “A few friends asked if we were crazy . . . [A film about] a married couple going through some difficulties . . . and I’m directing him.”
Jolie has long been a successful actress and she parlayed her celebrity status into a role as a U.N. ambassador and humanitarian work. Some have speculated that the next step for the Maleficent actress could be into politics. Jolie, for her part, is skeptical about whether or not a career in politics would be feasible for her – but she’s not ruling it out just yet.
“When you work as a humanitarian, you are conscious that politics have to be considered, because if you really want to make an extreme change, then you have a responsibility,” Jolie said. “But I honestly don’t know in what role I would be more useful—I am conscious of what I do for a living, and that [could] make it less possible.”
When pressed further about throwing her hat into the political arena, Jolie admitted, “I am open.”
