Academy Award-winning actress Angelina Jolie has announced her soon-to-be-launched clothing collective, called “Atelier Jolie,” which aims to connect fashion lovers with tailors and artisans globally.
“I’m starting something new today—a collective where everyone can create,” Jolie wrote in an Instagram post announcing her new fashion venture. “Atelier Jolie is a place for creative people to collaborate with a skilled and diverse family of expert tailors, pattern makers and artisans from around the world.”
“It stems from my appreciation and deep respect for the many tailors and makers I’ve worked with over the years, a desire to make use of the high-quality vintage material and deadstock fabric already available, and also to be part of a movement to cultivate more self-expression,” the 47-year-old humanitarian wrote before adding “I’m looking forward to growing this with you. More soon,” and concluded with directing followers to Atelier Jolie’s new website.

On its website, Jolie said she hopes to “create a community of creativity and inspiration, regardless of socio-economic background” and will support refugees and “other underappreciated groups” by offering apprenticeships and “positions of dignity based on skill.”
“We can all collect, appreciate, and be influenced by the designs of others. But the highest form of self-expression — and I believe the most fun — is to create for ourselves,” Jolie wrote. “And as we work with global artisans and creators, we hope to help share the richness of their cultural heritage and support the development of their own businesses.”
“It’s all new, and I’m more of an artist than a businesswoman. I hope to see you there, and to be one of the many creating with you within our new creative collective. Bear with me. I hope to grow this with you,” the Maleficent actress wrote, concluding her statement on the collective’s website.
No further details have been released other than the brand is expected to launch this coming fall. While sources revealed that Jolie’s new fashion brand has been years in the making, the announcement comes months after she stepped down from her U.N. special envoy post in December.
“After over 20 years, I am stepping down today from my work with the UN Refugee Agency. I believe in many things the UN does, particularly the lives it saves through emergency relief,” Jolie wrote in an Instagram post. “UNHCR is full of amazing people making a difference to people’s lives every day. Refugees are the people I admire most in the world and I am dedicated to working with them for the rest of my life. I will be working now with organizations led by people most directly affected by conflict, that give the greatest voice to them.”
