While enjoying some local foods in Cambodia, Angelina Jolie whipped up a scrumptious dish for her children — one comprised of scorpions and tarantulas.
Jolie was in the Southeast Asian country promoting her new film, First They Killed My Father, when she did an interview with BBC News. In the interview, she talked about her recent painful split from Brad Pitt. She then proceeded to teach the BBC reporter about local Cambodian cuisine, including how to prepare the insects eaten in the region.
In the BBC clip posted Sunday, Jolie cooked the multiple-legged creatures with her children, then dug in with them.
The Maleficent star starts by asking her fellow cooks and children, “See the hard part where you have the teeth? Take the fangs out.” She proceeded to pry the fangs out from a struggling scorpion.
“Crickets, you start with crickets. Crickets and a beer and then you kind of move up to tarantulas,” Jolie said as she flipped a scorpion in a sizzling pan as her children watched on.
After her culinary masterpiece was complete, she asked her brood, “You want to share a spider?”
She took a crunchy bite from a scorpion, then commented, “It’s actually really good, the flavor. It’s hard to chew, the scorpion.”
If anything, at least the fare was all-natural and organic.
